Our Philosophy
Inspired by Ethiopian children’s book author Ababa Tesfaye’s words, "Today's flowers,
Tomorrow's seeds," we see every child as a precious seed with a bright future. At Holly
Daycare & Preschool, we nurture them with love, fun activities, and a kind, attentive
spirit, helping them grow into their best selves.
We create a safe, clean space where
kids can explore their big imaginations through play and
structured learning. Our warm, personalized care ensures every child feels happy,
comfortable, and supported, meeting their unique needs with open hearts.
Through hands-on activities, strong connections, and a foundation of kindness and respect, we aim to ignite a lifelong love for learning. Our goal is for every child to leave each day feeling confident, valued, and excited to return tomorrow.

Holly Daycare’s Operations Manager
At Holly Daycare, we’re thrilled to introduce Suzi Solomon, our dedicated Operations Manager who
brings warmth, expertise, and cultural richness to our family daycare. With certifications
in
Early Childhood Development, CPR, and more, Suzi is deeply committed to creating a nurturing
environment where every child thrives. Fluent in English, Amharic, and Tigrigna, she connects
with our diverse families, ensuring everyone feels at home.
Suzi’s passion for nourishing young minds extends to our menu, where she’s introduced delicious,
healthy Ethiopian-inspired meals that delight little taste buds and promote wholesome eating.
Her big heart and professional expertise make her an invaluable part of the Holly Daycare
family.
Daily Schedule
- 7:30 am Centre opens. Welcome children, communicate with parents.
- 8:00 am Breakfast
- 9:00 am Outdoor play
- 9:30 am Morning snack
- 10:00 am Story time, songs, or music and movement activities
- 10:30 am Nap time (length varies per child). Older toddlers may rest quietly with books if they don’t nap.
- 11:30 am Wake up, diaper change, and wash-up routine.
- 12:00 pm Lunch
- 1:30 pm Nap time or quiet rest period for all children.
- 3:00 pm Wake up, diaper change, and wash-up routine.
- 3:30 pm Afternoon snack
- 4:00 pm Outdoor play
- 4:30 pm Free play with teacher-guided choices (e.g., blocks, sensory bins).
- 5:00 pm Prepare for pickup. Diaper change, wash-up, and communication with parents.
- 5:30 pm Centre closes.

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application. Please note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program. -
Enroll
After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
Location
Our location at 4800 Daisy St Unit 4, Oakland, CA 94619 is in the Redwood Heights
neighborhood in the lower Oakland Hills. This is a residential area, as the property is
listed as a quadruplex and residential income property. The area offers gentle sea breezes
and a Mediterranean climate.
We offer a unique outdoor space crafted with play and learning areas that foster exploration
and development. From creative arts and crafts to sensory zones, our environment sparks
curiosity. We spend most of the time outdoors in our sunny Bay Area backyard.
